Equality for Growth (EfG) is seeking to recruit several new board member(s) with the capacity and skills to oversee the next phase of our work. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with specialist skills in: not for profit organizational program management, strategic partnerships, resource mobilization, institutional sustainability, risk management and social enterprise development.
EfG actively encourages applications from with all levels of experience. Board members are expected to attend four board meetings per year, one extra ordinary meeting, and to participate in the life and activities of the organisation between board meetings, attending events, advising the management and acting as an ambassador for EfG. The roles are unpaid voluntary positions.
Equality for Growth (EfG) was founded in 2008 with the aim of empowering vulnerable and marginalised women in the informal sector. EfG has been implementing a model to conscientise women entrepreneurs in markets for over 10 years. Our prime group of beneficiaries are women and girls and we engage all elements of the market ecosystem in our work to support them to act together, claim their rights and grow their incomes.
Vision: We envision a future where women entrepreneurs in markets are organized, connected, and empowered to claim their rights and solve their problems at the market level and beyond.
Mission: We are mobilizing a movement of women entrepreneurs in markets to promote the voice, agency, and leadership of women in the informal sector at the community, local, and national levels through conscientization, organizing, access to justice, research, and economic empowerment.
We recognise that different candidates will bring different skills and experience to the board. The main criteria for selection are stipulated below:
- Knowledge of not-for-profit organization governance structures
- Passion and knowledge about justice and gender equality
- Commitment to supporting the mission and objectives of EfG
- Willingness to act as an ambassador for EfG
- Commitment to undertake fundraising initiatives for the organization
- Possess one or more of the required skills and/or experience
